Rock Band Records Inside Nuclear Cooling Tower

Hat-tip to Oblivious reader Ben for this (long-neglected) link. The Seattle-based rock band Thunderpussy have recorded a song or songs in an abandoned nuclear cooling tower. The band’s producer, Sylvia Massey, filmed a short video of what just one snare-drum hit sounds like. (It’s neat!) As she says in the video:

“I want you to really hear what happens with drums in a nuclear silo. Ready for this? Let me hit this snare, and you’ll see . . . the sound goes around and around, all the way up, through the top of the silo. It’s pretty outrageous, isn’t it?”

Fascinating use of apocalyptic infrastructure for the creation of art.
